Learning

Learning about nature makes us more motivated to look after it and ourselves

Learning makes our brains feel fizzy and alive, the more we learn the more we feel a sense of empowerment and responsibility.

Being outside and connecting with nature also really helps our mental health.

There are many different ways to learn about seaweed, but if you can, the best way is to go to a rocky coast and see what you can find. Download an ID app/book and take a friend. Be careful of the tides and slippery rocks.

If you're stuck at home and want to know more...

  • Gwymona is building a list of species here.

  • This website is a great source: www.seaweed.ie

  • Get this book if you're serious about IDing seaweeds you find on the foreshore: Seaweeds of Britain and Ireland

  • Or this easy fold out guide if you want to cover the basics.

If you live in Mid-Wales, check out the events page on this website to see if there are any walks and talks coming up. Learning about seaweed is much more fun if you can see, taste, touch and smell it!
